An Androgynous Vision ~ A Necessary Conversation

Androgynous is a poem originally thought to be read out loud by two voices in unison.

A choral poem. It sounds much better if heard with the two tones: masculine and feminine.

This poem is a dialogue between "the voices" and the reader. A necessary conversation, especially nowadays, when humanity is striving for betterment, tolerance, understanding

and acceptance.

Androgynous portrays "duality", not only within the word itself and definition, but the duality of our thoughts and attitudes. It also presents us the duality of concepts out of our perception, specifically the visual aspect; and how the visual, as a set of symbols, has modified western civilization through centuries. Examples of this are found within the poem itself, as it has been cited on the lines where Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Raphael, El Greco, Caravaggio and others appear. Let's observe these paintings and question them. This is what I have done several times. This is the inspiration.

Usually, in matters of spirit, one question is answered by another. Can we consider spirit binary? Is it binary for real? Does this concept apply? Due to my faith, I know that spirit can reveal itself in any way, any form. There are no impossibles. Our reception depends on each individual kind of faith. Androgynous brings to light an encounter, inviting us to "know more", by opening our souls to desire a positive outcome by realizing as a society that EVERYONE has the right TO BE. However, it offer us the previous aspect of duality towards the divine. Our elevated being inside us. An example of this dwells in the paintings previously mentioned. Another example jumps out of the page from the very beginning, when you read "we are old, very old, created before the living, on this very small planet", and in the third stanza: "eternal creatures".

This is all accompanied by the human aspect and characteristic, which could be seen or perceived literally or not. It depends on how you, the reader, feels. The poem Androgynous is an exhortation to observe, just observe, and keep quiet, be solemn; because contrary to what you may think, it has not much to do with sexuality. This one is a long conversation.
