ANTHROPOS : Where Does it Comes From?

In the beginning…The knowledge of our system of beliefs was planted. Let

us remember that I was struck by the iconography of religion; that this has

been one of my interests. Then, as part of my development, inside the cocoon,

the bubble of college as I had an encounter with Humanities, that sense of

wonder and appreciation grew stronger. Studying the diversity of cultures,

and their different points of view on our existence on Earth opened my mind,

therefore, enriched my psyche. All of this combined to my major in

Biological Sciences.

What do I earn by that? Respect and appreciation for life in all its forms;

not only in organic terms, but in the interaction between those forms culturally.

In conclusion, we are all connected. We all have ideas of our creation, even the

so called first ones, even if the theories of evolution divide us; which at the end,

are just an explanation of how.

Anthropos, the poem, comes from admiring the beauty of all those perspectives

of our existence, my homage to all that poetry, all that symbolism left to us by all

civilizations with a major statement in common: looking above.

En el principio…sembraron la semilla del conocimiento de nuestros sistemas de

credo. Recordemos que he sido maravillado por la iconografía de las religiones,

siendo uno de mis temas predilectos. Al desarrollarme, dentro de la crisálida de

la Universidad, el encuentro con las Humanidades enriqueció mi apreciación por

lo anterior. No sólo eso, el estudiar la diversidad de culturas y sus puntos de vista

también te moldean y completan el alma. Todo esto en combinación con mi con-

centración en las Ciencias, lo cual utilizo como “gesto” en mi poesía.

¿Qué gano con eso? EL desarrollo del respeto y aprecio por la vida, en todas

sus formas; no sólo a nivel orgánico, mas en esa interacción entre los seres vivos,

más interesante aún en términos culturales. En conclusión, todos estamos co-

nectados. Poseemos ideas sobre nuestra creación, sin importar la cultura, y sin

eximir a los llamados “primeros hombres”; aunque la teoría de la evolución nos

divida en controversia. Después de todo, las teorías son solamente una explicación

del cómo.

El poema Anthropos es el producto de mi admiración por la belleza de esa diver-

sidad de perspectivas sobre nuestra existencia. Es mi humilde homenaje a toda la

“Poesía”, todo el simbolismo que nos han sido legados por las diferentes civiliza-

ciones con una exhortación principal: mirar hacia arriba.
